Donations

We are pleased to support the Armed Services YMCA. They have provided educational, recreational, social, and religious support to the military since 1861 and continues that effort with the Defense Department through the Armed Services YMCA headquarters in Alexandria, VA. You can make donations on their website or you can send your donations directly to the following addresses. Make checks payable to the ASYMCA and you will receive an acknowledgement letter in the mail for tax purposes.

If you wish to donate to specific military areas, additional addresses and contacts can be found on their website. They are set up at many areas that host a large military population.

An example of one of the many programs the ASYMCA offers is the "Backdoor Boutique." Camp Lejuene, NC features this service once a month for military families. It is open for just three hours (from 9:00 A.M. to noon), and over 800 military dependents participate, some standing in line as early as midnight. The monthly event requires 25 volunteers to set up and 15 for the day of the program. They feature household items and baby supplies. They provide bedding, kitchen, supplies, bathroom supplies, and baby supplies including diapers and formula. Diapers, dishes, pots and pans, bedding, all being at the top of their list. They need any and all household items. They are happy to accept new and used items in good condition. They have a "no-questions-asked" policy and needs are confidential, in turn, making the families as comfortable as possible. Because of a shortage of donations, they are only able to make items available once a month. Their goal is to be open weekly.

Fort Campbell and Twenty-nine Palms offer this same program. At Fort Sill the program is called "The Soldiers Closet." At Elmendorf AFB it is called "The Airman's Attic."
